The teaching facilities associated with the UBC Department of Radiology are Vancouver General Hospital, St Paul’s Hospital, UBC Hospital, Children’s and Women’s Health Centre of BC, Royal Columbian Hospital, Victoria General Hospital, Royal Jubilee Hospital, Lions Gate Hospital, BC Cancer Agency-Vancouver Site and private clinics.
- This campus hospital is a major neuroscience and sports medicine referral centre, with busy MR and CT imaging services.
- The residents receive an introduction to MR and CT imaging in a non-body systems oriented fashion.
- Also present is an active interventional radiology service, offering a wide variety of procedures.

The Vancouver General Hospital is the trauma centre and a major referral centre for a number of specialties. The hospital provides clinical opportunities for resident exposure to imaging principles and management in biliary diseases, neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, oncology, trauma, and non-HIV immunocompromised patients.

This university hospital which provides an excellent exposure for residents in non-traumatic emergency cases and for HIV related illnesses and cardiac surgery. As mentioned earlier, this site also provides an excellent opportunity to learn GI fluoroscopy.
Also they have a busy angiography service that allows the residents to earlier exposure to routine cases.
An extensive ultrasound section provides residents with excellent introductory teaching and superb pathologies, as well as opportunities to perform biopsy and US interventional procedures.
BC Children's Hospital, a University of British Columbia affiliated teaching hospital, has 180 beds including a 45 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery and a 25 bed Intensive Care Unit. The hospital is BC's only specialty pediatric hospital providing tertiary pediatric care for the 1 million children of the Province of British Columbia. 95,000 outpatients, 35,000 emergency patients, 9,000 inpatients, and 5,000 daycare surgery patients attend the hospital per year.
The Radiology Department performs 65,000 exams per year. The department provides training and state of the art imaging facilities for General Radiology, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine including PET/CT, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Angiography and Interventional Radiology. The department is fully digital and all areas of the hospital are linked by our PACS system. The eleven Pediatric Radiologists are members of the Department of Radiology of the University of British Columbia.
Is the only facility in BC devoted exclusively to the health of women, newborns and families. This facility is one of the country's busiest and largest obstetrical centres. It is also the only source of tertiary maternity care in the province. BC Women's provides a broad range of specialized health services that address the health needs of women of all ages and backgrounds.
This private office performs both diagnostic and screening mammography at high volume. Nationally recognized experts in breast ultrasound and mammography supervise this rotation. Because of the private nature of this clinic, this rotation is reserved for the senior residents and they cannot perform the stereotaxic procedures, whether for biopsies or localizations.

The Diagnostic Imaging Department of the BC Cancer Agency provides diagnostic imaging services for the Vancouver Cancer Centre. It is well-equipped with state-of-the-art imaging technology, including digital and compute
d radiography, a 64 channel multidetector CT scanner, 1.5T MRI scanner, ultrasound scanners and digital mammography. Radiologists dedicated to breast imaging provide a comprehensive breast assessment and intervention service.
The Department also provides support for Tumor Group Conferences, Functional Imaging, Clinical Trials and the Hereditary Cancer Program and is involved in the education of Radiation, Medical Oncology and Radiology Residents. The faculty comprises seven Diagnostic Radiologists and there are approximately 30 technical staff, including specialist MRI, CT, Ultrasound and Mammography technologists.

Royal Columbian Hospital is the tertiary referral centre for the Fraser Health region, including Trauma, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Cardiac Care, Obstetrics/Perinatal and Interventional Radiology. Medical Imaging provides a full range of services including Radiography, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Interventional Radiology, Breast Imaging, including interventional procedures, and Bone Densitometry. Residents will have the opportunity to gain experience in multiple disciplines utilizing leading-edge technology.
